King Cards (Japanese: キングカード Kingu Kādo) are cards created by KuugaUltimate200 (aka DragonRikaZangetsu at DevianART) with golden-colored borders that resemble gold tablets. They are placed in the Spell & Trap Card Zone, and work like Spell and Trap cards do, with the added ability to unlock "King Monster Zones" on the Field to Special Summon monsters from the Extra Deck to the Main Monster Zones without the need of Link Monsters.

Design & Theme Edit

King cards have golden-colored frames that resemble gold tablets, with the kanji for King ( キング ) engraved on it. In many cultures the color gold is associated with kings, for example: In Japan this color symbolizes strength and wealth, two things associated with kings, and since these cards give more power and freedom to the player, that's possibly why this color was chosen.

Mechanics & Rulings Edit

Basic Functions Edit

King Cards are cards that are placed on the Spell & Trap Card Zone and basically work like them, except with the ability to unlock "King Monster Zones" on the Field to Special Summon monsters from the Extra Deck without the need of Link Monsters.

Unlocking King Monster Zones Edit

King cards target Main Monster Zones to summon monsters from the Extra Deck (Those Zones are treated as King Monster Zones). How many zones can be unlocked are indicated by a King card's King Hierarchy. King Monster Zones are unlocked before the activation of a King card’s effects (The unlocking of Zones do not start a chain, therefore cannot be responded to by your opponent.)

King Hierarchy Edit

King Hierarchy is a number placed on the left of King cards (Similar to the Link Rating from Link & Lock Link monsters) that is beside this symbol King-icon, they indicate how many King Monster Zones can be unlocked (The player can choose which Zones to unlock)

Spell Inidicators Edit

Spell Indicators are up to 2 icons similar to those from Spells and Traps, placed on the right side of the King cards, they tell the way how King Cards work as well as whether their Spell Speed.

The first icon can be the following:

If it has this icon Quick-Play; the card is treated as a Quick Effect card, and therefore it is Spell Speed 2.

if it has this icon Continuous; the card is treated as a Continuous card, and therefore must stay on the field after activation.

if it has this icon Field; the card is treated as a Field card and must be placed on the Field Zone.

if it has this icon Counter; the card is treated as a Counter card; and therefore it is Spell Speed 3.

if it has this icon Equip; the card is treated as an Equip card.

If it has this icon Ritual; the card is treated as a Ritual card.

If it has this icon Shield; the card is treated as a Shield card.

The 2nd icon can only be whether Continuous, Equip, Ritual, or Shield.

King Monster Zones Edit

  • ·Those are unlocked by King cards
    • The number of King Monster Zones unlocked depends on a King card’s King Hierarchy (You can choose those Zones).
  • When a monster summoned from the Extra Deck leaves a King Monster Zone (by being destroyed, banished or sent back to Hand), that Zone reverts to a Main Monster Zone, however you can still unlock more King Monster Zones the rest of that turn.
  • If is treated as a Continuous or Field card by its Spell Indicators, once per turn: a King card can unlock more King Monster Zones up to its King Hierarchy while that card remains face-up in your Field, even if a monster has left one (But you can only convert each Main Monster with the same card once per turn).
  • If a Link Monster’s Link Arrows point to a King Monster Zone, the latter still is treated as such.
  • The base Extra Monster Zones cannot be converted into King Monsters Zones by King cards.
  • If a Link Monster is Summoned to a King Monster Zone; you can Special Summon monsters from the Extra Deck, to Zones its Link Arrows point to.
  • You can only convert the same Main Monster Zones to King Monster Zones with the same King card once per turn.
  • Even if King cards leave the Field, the King Monster Zones remain unlocked for the rest of the turn, unless a monster from the Extra Deck has left such Zone (by being destroyed, banished, or sent back to the Hand) or by card effects.

King Summoning Edit

For more information see "King Summoning".

  • When a monster is Special Summoned from the Extra Deck to a King Monster Zone, it is treated as a King Summon.
    • The word “King” is added to the summoning type of that monster.
      • King [summoning type] Summon
      • King Fusion Summon
      • King Synchro Summon
      • King Xyz Summon
      • King Pendulum Summon
      • King Link Summon
      • Etc.
  • You can only King Summon monsters to an unlocked King Monster Zone up to 3 times per turn (Unless stated otherwise by a card effect, or when a monster summoned from the Extra Deck is destroyed, banished or sent back to Hand).
  • Despite being treated as "King Summoning", Special Summoning monsters from the Extra Deck is still treated as it's corresponding Summon type.
  • King Summoning can still be negated by cards like "Solemn Judgement" and other cards.

Regarding the new MASTER RULE APRIL 2020 Edit

Since that new Master Rule will allow Fusion, Synchro and Xyz monsters to be summoned without the Extra Monster Zone restriction, many would think these cards are now completely pointless, but since Pendulums and Links are still under that restriction, these cards can still be useful to summon those overriding that restriction.

Also a new Master Rule will be made by KuugaUltimate200 to fit for these cards' usage.
