A Genesis Monster is a type of Monster Card that is colored white and purple. They are stored in the Extra Deck. The card frame is also stylized by having it appear as if a battle of light and darkness is happening, a cataclysmic event happening when summoned, a lot like a Genesis.

Like other Extra Deck monsters, Genesis Monsters cannot exist in the hand or Main Deck (even with card effects). If a Genesis Monster would be moved to the hand or Main Deck, it is returned to the Extra Deck instead. If a card like "Transmigration Break" or "Degenerate Circuit" is applying, this will override the Genesis Monster's ability to return to the Extra Deck.

Like other Extra Deck monsters, if a Genesis Monster is not Genesis Summoned first, it cannot be Special Summoned from the Graveyard or while banished (unless it specifies another way to properly Special Summon it).

Cores are the cost in order to summon Genesis Monsters. They are the souls of fallen cards reborn by celestial guidance. Each monster is equal to 1 Core. Any monsters in the graveyard count, so monsters like XYZ, Synchro, and others count as 1 core.

Genesis SummoningEdit

Main article: Genesis Summon To Perform a Genesis summon, one must have have a Catalyst Monster on the field with the appropriate summoning effect, for example. Archangel Sword can Genesis Summon an Archangel Genesis Monster or a Light Attribute Genesis Monster.

Genesis Monsters once summoned are placed on the field in an unoccupied area.

ATK and DEFEdit

Generally, Genesis Monsters with 3000 or more ATK have either negative effects or rather difficult Summoning requirements, such as CONFIDENTIAL.

Beyond GenesisEdit

Beyond Genesis is the name of a Genesis Monster using a Genesis Monster as a Genesis Material, effectively going "Beyond". A Beyond Genesis Summon is exact to a normal Genesis Summon, as the only difference is the monster chosen as a Genesis material is a Genesis Monster. Some Beyond Genesis Monsters require certain Genesis Monsters as materials to summon.
